Why have these Kore and Kouros Murti Pairs been found at the bottom of the Mediterranean, buried like the Merenta Excavation Pair (images below), or preserved in the Vatican and other Catholic collections? It is because of the Iconoclastic (Sacred Image-smashing) Controversy and the near total destruction of early Christian and other sacred Art by the followers of M*hammed. The Catholic Leaders who fought against the Iconoclasts, tried to rescue the Sacred Art of their religious domain, especially the so -called ‘cult images’ of the Proto-Catholic Heliopolitan Tradition. The Great Rhodian School of Monumental Stone Murti Sculpture in-the-round was unparalled in the ancient World. Techniques from the Masters of Rhodes were transmitted to the Murti Makers of Pure Land Buddhism and Vaishnavism at centers like Gandhara and Mathura.
In these related Pure Land Buddhist and Vaishnava Traditions, to avoid desecration of a Sacred Murti of the Lord or Shakti, if there is no other way to protect Sri Murti, the Form of the Lord or Shakti must be buried or cast into a deep body of water! Where this was not accomplished, the Iconoclasts (Murti smashers) delighted in disfiguring, beheading and dismembering the so-called ‘Cult Images’ of the ancient Mediterranean Region. They also defaced and destroyed countless other works of Sacred Art. This is why the bottom of the Mediterranean Sea is littered with countless ‘Cult Images’ from the tiny home-shrine type to great Temple Murtis weighing tons. Such Murtis were deposited there before or after desecration, to protect Them from further insult and injury. Burying Murtis on land was an alternative to burial at sea. The Three Lotus Blossoms represent HERU / HARI as TRI-LOKESHVARA the Lord of the Three Worlds of Yesterday Today and Tomorrow. The Nile Lotus that blooms for only one day is used to depict the idea of the three realms of the Past, Present and Future. A careful study of these 3 blossom Egyptian Lotus Iconographic ideograms shows that one of the Blossoms is spent and the other has not yet opened. The Lotus itself, or ‘water lilly’ is a pictorial pun or HIERO glyph for the Name of God-Ess, Nyphos-Nymphia. Nymph in Greek means both young or virginal as in Helios KOUROS and Rhoda KORE (Krishna and Radha) or the Roman Jupiter JUVENalis and Juno JUVENta, Krishna YUAVANA and Radha YAUVANI. NYMPH also means LOTUS or WATER LILLY. On Their Sacred Isle of Rhodes in the Ancient Mediterranean Sea, Radha and Krishna had many Names and Nymphia and Nymphos were two of them. By this N ‘seed’ Bija Mantram Name, They were the eternal virginal YOUNG / YAUVAN YOUTH and MAIDEN. They were also PADMA (Lotus) and PADMA-PATI. They were HARI and HARINI and Lotus (PADMA, NARAYANI, SRI, LAXMI) and Lotus-Husband, or Lotus-Father (NARAYANA, HARI, Vishnu, Vasudeva). Please also notice the emblems or symbols of HARPOCRATES in this Icon. These depict His Names and reveal His Theology. They also show what the Religio-Political Alliances were of those who worshiped Him in this Form. Beginning from the base, which is usually a wavey-water line HIEROglyph for the Name-Form of NHL-HAP NARA-NARAYANA as the Vedic APA Deva, the Three Lotuses of the Past, Present and Future sprout. HERU is eternally PRESENT. So, He is especially depicted on the open blossom of TODAY.
