On Dharmic Governance in an Age of Corruption

Everywhere and at all times in the ‘material world’ there are two forces contending for supremacy/control. In all of the Bhakti Scriptures of the material world this conflict is there. It divides even the family and friends of God Himself. This is the same dichotomy that we encounter in many cases.  Sri Krishna explains this problem in His Bhagavad-gita. He says that there is His ALL-Good WILL, which inspires all good in humanity, and there are the contrary forces of the jiva-souls’ rebellious free-will, PLUS the operative natural forces of the modes of Sattvic Goodness, Rajarshic Passion and Tamasic Ignorance. Furthurmore, these 3 Modes of material nature are not existing in a totally pure state anywhere within a material world.

This means that even if an ideal is 100% good/ sattvic, there will ALWAYS be some corruption or fault in its execution or realization within this material realm. The modes of passion and/or ignorance, and the degrading forces of catabolism will always cause even the most perfect ‘material’ conception to be somewhat imperfect and to degrade, becoming more imperfect as time passes, eventually being diseased and/or decaying and dying.

Thus God Himself, or His Representative, must come again and again in every age to every place to re-Advent Himself and/or re-invent something GOOD/Ideal/Sattvic that he has already given us before! When there is a decline in DHARMA or RTA the Sattvic-tending Universal Order, God intervenes in the course of the universe to set it back on the righteous trajectory. He makes a course-correction for the Cosmos and the little Earth Planet, by making a course-correction for the human race!

In the complexity of governance, think of this…Even if a 100% good dharmic law was passed with 100% support, it would never have 100% good execution for 100% of the time from then on. 100% Sattva Guna cannot be achieved in this world. So in governance it is always a fight. We people of GOOD-WILL or the Will to do GOOD, must strive hard for the 100% Common Good, and if we do we will %100 guaranteed achieve something LESS than a %100 perfect outcome…but we will certainly achieve more than if we only try for 50% of the GOOD!

The Classical Greek Philosophers talked about the True, the Good and the Beautiful.

One of the great TRUTHS of the founding of the United States was that the Founders saw the Union that they were creating as a PROCESS going forward in time, in which A MORE PERFECT UNION would ALWAYS be in realization! The Constitution was framed in view of this dynamic reality. Thus we were able to amend it for the betterment of our Nation. States, as Members of our ancient Asyla Federation Structure of alliance government, had rights too. Between the Federal Alliance of States and the States, we had a unity with diversity, and the flexibility to do things like end legal slavery, emancipate women and stop child labor, and to create some of the most truly GOOD laws in the history of humanity!

The Transcendent Ideal of the True, the Good, and the Beautiful is always there, but in each moment we much struggle with all of our might individually and together to realize these Ideals. How far we can individually and collectively succeed towards the materially unattainable 100% of Truth, Goodness and Beauty depends on our motivation, courage and ability.

We must try. We must try harder. We must never quit trying!
